Sledding

The days after Christmas have been proceeding as they usually do, with the weird exception of Mom having to work. I worked Dec. 23 & 24, then 26 & 27, and this coming week I have to work Dec. 30 & 31, and Jan. 2 & 3. It's been a LONG time since I had to work this much in late December!

Other than that it's been a lot of playing with new toys, eating ham for dinner every night (5 nights so far), working our way through the cookies, and generally being as lazy as the twins (and my job) will let us.

But last night... we finally got some more snow! Not a lot -- two or three inches -- but enough to try out the new sleds. So this morning off we went to find a hill. After some hunting, we ended up at the old Baseline Middle School (now New Vista High School, I think). I'm pretty sure this is not an approved sledding hill, but it had a nice gentle slope, so we figured it was a good place to start.

The kids were hesitant at first, but Rocket Boy got them going.
Pretty soon they were running up and down the hill with joy.
The red sled was definitely the favorite, which meant that bossy Baby A rode on it most of the time.
Baby B was willing to ride the blue saucer, but he coveted the red sled. I'm thinking we might need to buy a second one. This would not be a big deal (plastic sleds are not expensive) except that SANTA CLAUS brought the two sleds we have. I'm wondering if it would start the wheels in their little brains turning, if we were to run off to McGuckin's to get another red sled. Or could we "just happen" to FIND another red sled, perhaps in the garden shed, indicating that perhaps Santa had paid another visit?
I'm not sure what we'll do about it. But I do know that sledding is a hit.

Afterwards we went home, changed out of wet clothes, and headed off to Denny's for a special (as special as Denny's can be, I mean) Sunday brunch -- with hot chocolate all around!
