I had to come back and post again tonight, because I was right about how much snow we got. That is, I knew it was more than 3 inches. It was 10.7 inches! And that was just yesterday -- it went on snowing most of today, though very lightly.
We did get the boys out in it, even though it was bitter cold. Nothing like the cold they're having in the midwest, though, so we thought we'd brave it. We didn't really go sledding, but Rocket Boy pulled them down the street on the red sled, all the way to the park. Lazy boys (not RB).
Bear Creek was frozen, and covered in snow.
We wandered around the park for a while, playing with the sled and watching some cross-country skiers, and then we headed back home down Eastman.
I kept trying to find birds to photograph -- kind of a lost cause with my crummy camera, but hope springs eternal, hope being the thing with feathers and all that. Thing is, there just weren't any birds around except a couple of crows.
But then, as we headed back down Dartmouth...
...I spotted a whole lot of birds in the trees across the street from our house. Robins!
Thirty or forty robins, sitting all fluffed up in the trees to keep warm. Here's a brave one that visited an evergreen bush by our drainpipe for a few moments.
Happy with our outing (and me with my birds), we went inside and had hot chocolate and leftover Christmas cookies.
It's supposed to get down to -5 tonight, but up to 30 tomorrow. It'll be pretty cold when I'm waiting for the bus tomorrow morning, but I imagine I'll survive.
