I'm off to meetings in a few minutes, but just wanted to post a few pics. School is back in session!

We had so many school supplies to bring in today that we made use of my little grocery cart. Kid A pushed it about halfway, until he accidentally dumped it over, scattering supplies everywhere, at which point Rocket Boy took over. Here we all are, about to set off. The light is terrible, but you can see that Kid A and I are both wearing our new glasses, and both kids and I have new haircuts.
The walk to school is much longer than before, because they've blocked off the bridge that goes across the creek to the back field (due to the construction of the new school). But it's a nice walk, at least it was today.

At the school there was the usual huge buzzing crowd of students and parents -- everyone comes to the first day if they possibly can. I saw lots of familiar faces and some new people too. The woman in the red dress with her back to the camera is Kid A's new teacher. Kid B has Kid A's old 1st grade teacher for 3rd grade. (The monolith rising up in the back of the picture is the new school going up.)
We dropped off our masses of school supplies (Rocket Boy had to push the cart indoors to do that) and then waved as the kids went inside. I didn't feel at all like crying. I guess 3rd grade isn't such an emotional time. I was just so happy we survived the summer intact (mostly) and now another school year begins.
