Our first report cards

I was going to call this post "Our first diplomas," but then it occurred to me that they aren't diplomas, they're report cards, and barely even qualify as that.

Still, we're very proud, Rocket Boy and I. Of course they're not OUR report cards, they're the TWINS' report cards, but we are taking full responsibility and credit. Even though all we did was pay for the lessons.

The report cards in question are for the swimming class that the boos just completed, which is called Pre-School 1. We learned at their last class on Thursday that they have been promoted to Pre-School 2, which is fortunate, since I had already signed them up for it. Pre-School 2 swim lessons will start on July 9th, so we have a week off (the twins are horrified at the thought).

I think Baby A actually did a little better in the class than Baby B. Baby A's report card says "Awesome job! You love swimming and the water!" Baby B's says "Keep up the good work! You did a great job!" These comments make RB and me happy because we hope someday to be able to SWIM with the twins, instead of just bobbing around in the shallow end of the leisure pool. It'll be a few years yet, since all they learned in Pre-School 1 was bobbing and floating and blowing bubbles. But it's a good start.

As I read their swimming evaluations over and over, my mind drifted off to imaginings of future report cards: "Baby A needs to stop talking so much in class... Baby B needs to do less daydreaming... Baby A has been expelled for truancy..." No no no, we won't go there now. That's the future, or it might be. Neither of us expects the road ahead to be easy.

But it's so nice that their first grade in Boulder is "Pass."
